If you live a very active lifestyle, it’s almost too easy to get caught up in the stress that comes with it. You know, reaching for balance while accomplishing, striving and putting it on rinse and repeat…this isn’t easy.

In fact, if you’re like the many women I work with, you might even be noticing that you’re too drained to even enjoy yourself. Do you catch yourself always thinking ahead or looking back, but never truly appreciating the now?

We are rarely present in the moment. When teaching yoga, I first begin every class by guiding them to let go of their day (it’s already in the past) and the “to do’s” of tomorrow (that’s the future) and to come into the here and now. To connect with their breath and slowly release the mental chatter one thought and come into the present moment…the here and now.

To experience feelings of connection, joy, love and authentic fulfillment we must be present and bring all our awareness to the moment.

This can be difficult to do if we are always thinking about how to manage our future and always trying to be one step ahead.

What is it within us that pushes us and over time, leads to feelings of burnout rather than bliss?

What I have found to be true is the commitment to certain ways of being that are no longer serving us therefore keeping us stuck and eventually burned out.

To go from burnout to bliss we must become aware of the old behavior patterns that drive us and also drain us.

How do we do this?

We stop the ENEGRY LEAKS in our chakras….the unconscious behavior patterns that are automatic and prevent our happiness, authenticity, peace and ease.

Most people think of the chakras as the seven energy centers running along the spine —But these centers provide a meaningful framework affecting the way we feel and think in our body, mind and heart. This energy carries our thoughts and emotions as blood carries our nutrients and oxygen.

Each chakra relates to a theme in ourselves and our lives and each chakra can be blocked by resistance or struggle with what is. We can create powerful changes whenever we allow ourselves to be fully present and surrender to the struggle, the battle, the lack, the fear within.

The first step in this kind of work is tuning into ourselves and seeking to understand our internal signals, making the body mind connection and taking time to pause.

Here’s the how:

Find an appropriate time and place and decide to pause, to stop all thinking and doing for a while. Bring all of your presence and awareness to the here and now, to this instant in time. Close your eyes and turn all awareness inside, then relax and invite your thinking mind to slowly release, unwind, slow right down… until it comes to rest. Let go inwards, completely surrender to the moment.

You will notice that there is always an undercurrent of stillness and peace, then, if you continue to surrender inwards, a sense of spacious well-being, an ‘is-ness’ will arise. If you allow yourself to fall right into this you’ll find bliss is its essence.

“Whenever you allow yourself to be fully present, when you stop all resistance to or struggle with what is, you will find you are guided in a very natural, fluid way and everyday tasks, from menial things to complicated procedures will get done more easily, even effortlessly.”  ~ Brandon Bay

If we focus our attention to the moment and surrender to the task at hand, it will allow your whole being and body to be calm, at ease. Natural joy, bliss and peace will arise out of just being present rather than burnout and fatigue and from thinking ahead or in the past.
